I see people downvoted me without mentioning why, or without even reading what the article I linked to said. I have used the methods of those articles myself and they also have been proved by the author (Derek Halpern), hence he was interviewed here http://mixergy.com/derek-halpern-social-triggers-interview/

And of course as you guys know I am talking about the topic here How can I increase the perceived price value of the products?

I don't care about the fact that I got downvoted. I was wondering if it is possible to require commenting if one downvotes someone? I feel like it is fair to let someone know why they got downvoted.

Perhaps some people do not like you answer or they maybe disagree? – Ross Feb 29 '12 at 7:28
What the person was asking and the "research" you linked are not as strongly related as you claim – TimJ Mar 1 '12 at 2:44

There's a message suggesting a comment being shown when someone downvotes. In your situation, the downvotes were likely as a result of the low quality of the answer: just giving a link and providing an outlandish claim (increase value by 71%) isn't the best way of answering. You should at least summarize the advice and, even better, explain how you've used it & succeeded yourself.

yes but that number was straight from the article.. not mine. I think next time I should explain like I usually do. – BhargavPatel Feb 29 '12 at 4:39

@BhargavPatel: Precisely. Explaining always helps, especially in case the link "rots". – dnbrv Feb 29 '12 at 4:43
The best answers on StackExchange not only have a link, but the general idea is that if that link were to suddenly be broken, the answer itself would have enough detail to still stand on it's own. – jmort253 Feb 29 '12 at 8:06
I agree. Just putting the link there makes me think that you're just trying to sell me something. Explaining what the link is for and where it goes does help. – March Robert Philip Serrano Feb 29 '12 at 10:56

You guys are all correct - but not doing these things isn't a reason to downvote, it's a reason to comment and suggest the author clarifies the answer/content. – Nick Stevens Feb 29 '12 at 12:04
@Nick - that is your opinion - some people would rather downvote than comment – TimJ Mar 18 '12 at 0:37
